When selecting a rod with casting distance in mind be sure that the lures and or bait that you are casting falls within the lure ratings of the rod. For example a rod with a lure rating of 1/4 to 3/4 oz. will most effectively cast lures that are on the heavier end of that range such as 1/2 to 3/4 oz.
