The Shimano Citica I Series Baitcasting Reels feature X-ship technology for smooth retrieval of your favorite bait. As a result these reels will endure through many fishing trips. The Citica I baitcasting reels will help you achieve a smooth long cast to put your bait where the fish are.

  • S3D spool
  • SVS infinity braking system that's easy to manage
  • Low profile reels
  • Stainless ball bearings
  • Roller Bearing: 1

Hagane Body: Metal reel body with high rigidity. The body stiffness and resistance virtually eliminates body flexing. The result transforms your actions directly into cranking power.

SVS Infinity: Shimano's newest innovation in brake system technology. This technology provides easy-to-manage and consistent spool control along with brake force. With brake weights that use inner friction against the raceway during the cast, this system controls spool speed for precision casting especially when using lighter lures. The external adjustment knob provides for quick, precise adjustments for either the conditions or when you switch baits.

Shimano Stable Spool Design (S3D): Leads to signifigantly reduced spool vibration. By designing a balanced and uniform thin wall aluminum constructed spool, this creates an incredibly smooth feeling when casting and retrieving lures.

Super Free Spool: Designed to eliminate friction on the spool shaft during the cast. In standard baitcasting reels, when the clutch bar is pressed down, the pinion gear is freed and actually can drag on the spool shaft creating friction that can limit the length of a cast. With the super free spool technology by Shimano, the pinion gear is supported by a ball bearing so that when the clutch is disengaged in preparation for a cast, the pinion gear and spool shaft are kept in perfect alignment. The result is zero friction upon the spoool shaft.

My favorite Shimano Baitcaster
November 20, 2019
These reels are my favorite that Shimano makes. They aren't the best of lightest thing out there but for the price in comparison they are little workhorses. I own 8 of them mixed in all the different gear ratios. I tournament fish, I beat the crap out of my gear and these reels have never given me as much as a hiccup. Good bang for your buck.

Can this be used for redfish?

So long as the reel is properly maintained it will hold up just fine to use in saltwater and will be strong enough to handle most backwater redfish. Be sure to rinse your reel off with freshwater after every saltwater use and keep your reel properly oiled and greased.
