The Shimano Casitas Low Profile Baitcasting Reels are designed around a strong and aggressive theme. Shimano used an image of a snake ready to strike its prey for inspiration of this reel. These reels also feature sleek gunmetal gray paint, and unrivaled appearance. These reels are simple and versatile with a fierce, aggressive body design.

  • Shimano Stable Spool Design: Utilizes Shimano machining technology and knowledge to create a spool with uniform thickness throughout. The result is a spool with incredible balance and reduced vibration during casting. Providing the angler with a smooth and efficient cast.
  • Shimano Variable Brake System: Internal centrifugal brake performance combined with external rapid adjustment. Delivers unparalleled adjustability taking precision cast adjustment to the next level.

Have a buddy from a local fire department that I once in a while take a bass trip with (not really a freshwater fisherman and i 99% of the time am saltwater fishing). These reels cast pretty far, and seem to be of good quality for the price.
Pros
  • price. price.price.... and good looks.

Good reel if don’t fish with it like I did

This real lasted me 2 months of false albacore fishing. I’ll agree it’s not the best choice for that but wanted to test it and see if it would last. It did last most of the season but I fried the drag and now the handle turns with out turning the spool. I’m sure this reel would be just fine for Larry fishing but could not handle lots of core

The reel has performed admirably right out of the box. Has provided long, smooth cast with little adjustment needed when changing out lures. This will be the perfect choice for my grandson's first bait caster !

Is this a salt water reel ?
1 Answer
The Shimano Casitas Low Profile Baitcasting Reel can be used for inshore saltwater fishing. I would maintain this reel more often than you would a saltwater bait caster because it is not as sealed as most other bait casting reels in it's class.
