The New Shimano Butterfly Flat-Side jig has been innovatively designed to perform the best action in the most common situation of angle-vertical jigging from a drifting boat. The rear/center weight balance design lets this jig fall to the bottom quickly with swinging motion. The off-set eyeball position allows for the use of two different hook length for an overall better hooking ratio.

I fish out of Galveston, TX, and use these jigging deep for tuna. Tuna love the chartreuse/glow jigs. i have caught yellowfin and numerous blackfin tuna with this jig.
Pros
  • tuna love them
  • have caught multiple fish species
Cons
  • don't flutter on their own, you have to apply a jigging motion when reeling in to get a hit, but you should know this

Great Price - Excellent Service

These Jigs are an excellent option for schooling Bass in deep water. Vertical Jigging is becoming very popular in my area, and I have had tremendous success using these jigs. They can be pricey, so shopping around was a priority for me. Not only did Tackle Direct have these items in stock, they had a great variety to choose from at very competitive prices. Again, the quality of their service matches the quality of their products. I would highly recommend ordering your tackle supplies from Tackle Direct, they are professional, helpful, and have gained my loyalty because they conduct their business with integrity.

The-go-to jig
October 19, 2013
First time I go deep sea jigging, I used the Shimano Butterfly 8oz Chartreuse/White-Glow for jigging over 500ft depth thinking the glow-in-the-dark side of it would help getting the deep sea fish attention, I dropped it, in few seconds it hits the bottom I started cranking the real and bam! it got a 20lb barracuda hooked, and when I pulled it up, jig was a bit scratched, and I never thought I would but I loved the jig scratch marks from the barracuda sharp teeth. I'd use it every time in the same situation, and I do recommend it for jigging buddies :)

How are these lures rigged with hooks?...

You would use a split ring, and a solid ring to rig a hook to the top eye of the lure. The off-set eyeball position allows for the use of two different hook length for an overall better hooking ratio. You would use these hooks: Owner 5284S-159 Dancing Stinger Hooks 5/0 Short
