I've had the 7' spinning and casting rod med heavy for two years now. Use them for catfishing in the Midwest. Light weight, long handles and being ugly stick very strong! Caught many fish on both rods. Good sensitivity and plenty of backbone. My new favorite rod.
Pros
  • Strong, light weight ,sensitive.
Cons
  • none

Can I use UGLY STIK® CATFISH SPINNING RODS with a BATLE II 5000 penn and a 50 pound Braid? aqui.ntn@hotmail.com
1 Answer
The Penn Battle 5000 might be a bit heavy for the Shakespeare Ugly Stik Catfish Rods. I would advise using a 4000 size reel with 30 lb braid.
