  • Durable, fighting length ''Ugly Tuff'' EVA grips.
  • Graphite Fuji reel seats with stainless steel cushioned hoods.
  • Heavy-duty stainless steel reinforced guides and tip tops.
  • Rods feature fast action tips and strong, reinforced fighting butts.
  • Great live bait rod for large catfish, stripers, and bigwater game fish.
  • Exclusive ''Ugly Back'' 60-day/5-year limited warranty.

An $8.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

Super strong rod

I've been using a number of these rods over the last three years and I've been very happy with them. They handle load very well and can take abuse. I think these and Tsunami rods are the best value for the dollar.
Pros
  • Very tough
Cons
  • none

Great Rod at a Great Price

I use these rods for rockfishing and sometimes yellowtail, and they are sensitive and durable. And you can easily buy multiples of these because of the low price tag. Ugly Stiks have never let me down, and this one is no exception.

been using the one on my boat as a spare for guests for a while now, but back in the day before i had to buy my own gear (thank you pops) she was a true bull of a rod. 5lb Fluke, ya got it. 15-20lb bluefish, ya got it. 25+ striper, ya got it. Amazing pricing on these too.

WORK HORSE, inshore or off

Well, since Shakespeare has "screwed the pooch" with the new GX2 Ugly Stiks, making them cheap feeling and completely dropping certain rod models. When you BLEED Ugly Stik. Ya gotta make the switch. So I went ALL Tiger rod for my bottom fishing rods. I prefer this 7' model because of the light tip, but heavy butt section. 40-50 pound fish NO problems, but a 2-3 pounder still FUN.
Pros
  • THE ACTION, of this model makes for a super versatile rod
  • The Model has a GIMBAL butt
  • The eyes on this model are super tough, tough as the blank.
Cons
  • Newer Tiger rods being changed.....I believe they are adding the hard plastic "slick butts". I do not like that!!!
  • No "hook hanger".....but that might be a good thing since Shakespeare always put the hook hangers in the most annoying spots!

Unbelievable reliability in an Ugly Stik
October 31, 2014
The name is well known, and the products are not bought often enough. When you want quality the buck stops here. I have and use 10 Ugly Stiks. I fish for large fresh water catfish, and also do a lot of salt water fishing also. There are very few products that rival the abilities of the ugly stik, and the ones that do cost a ton more. If you are looking for the best rod for the price look no further!!!

Toughest rod you will ever own
June 28, 2014
I have had the medium action tiger rod rated for 20 - 50 lb line. This rod is a beast! Had a Penn 112h on it. Used it for pier fishing in Florida for 7 years and never disappointed. Many fish and years later and its being used for giant catfish in the Midwest. Perfect combination for them as well.
Pros
  • super strong guides great live bait tip but with the backbone for most anything that you are after.
Cons
  • none
