I would love this rod if the guides would stop breaking. I take great care of my equipment. I contacted Sea Striker about the guide breaking via email and asked them if they could send me a guide since it's only a couple years old.
I didn't ask for a repair or replacement, just a guide. Their response pretty much said it's out of warranty and there is nothing they can do. In other words we have your money and you have our junk, sorry. I took it to a local guy who is reasonable and he replaced the guide but before I got home another one broke and the insert fell out . I have other rods of this brand that have served me well but I think I'll probably look elsewhere in the future and I buy lots of fishing rods. I work too hard for my money:
Pros
  • Great rod when all the guides are intact
Cons
  • Cheap guides that break

Good for the cost

Certainly not the best of rods but for the money its hard to beat. Very stiff so casting can be a chore but if you need something with backbone to quickly yank fish away from structure this is what you want.
Pros
  • Good Value
Cons
  • Very stiff

Great Surf Stick but be sure to change out the guides.
March 4, 2019
Everything about this rod says quality except for the existing guides. I removed the guides and switched over to a concept style guide set and now the rod is top notch. It casts a mile, and is far more sensitive. I use it as my surf stick for fluke, and for schoolie bass and midsize blues on bucktails and light poppers and small darters.
Pros
  • Nice light and balanced feel to rod
  • Good action on the blank
  • Balances well to a concept style guide setup
  • Nice tight and secure feel at the ferule between the sections of rod
Cons
  • You really have to replace the existing guides on the rod to get the maximum out of it.
  • The original guides look as though the inserts will fall out of them under heavy use.

Beach Runner 9’ and 10 ‘ Rods
August 22, 2018
I am writing this review with the disclaimer that I have not fished with the rods yet, but I have been fishing with Sea Striker rods for nearly 20 years and I have had no problems with the Sea Striker composite surf rods that i’ve Had that long. After examining the two Beach Runner rods I recently purchased i’ve Come to the conclusion that the guality for the money has not been compromised. I bought the Beach Runners, 9’ and 10’ rods, in preparation for a September surf casting trip on Long Island and I am confident that these rods will not let me down. Sea striker is a good value added company and I look forward to using more of their products in the years to come.

Great Surf Fluking Rod
February 24, 2016
For the price this is a great rod for throwing 3/4-2 oz bucktails. I use it mainly for fluking off the beach/jetties and have caught many fish with it.

9' Sea Striker Beach Runner Surf Rod
February 23, 2015
...I've had the 9' Sea Striker Beach Runner surf rod for two seasons now and I couldn't be happier with it. Throws a wide variety of plugs & lures with ease, but it really loves launching a 5" 1-3/8 oz or 6" 2-1/4 oz Tsunami Talkin' Popper or 6" Gibbs Pencil Popper. Paired with a moderately priced Okuma Epixor Baitfeeder EB-50, it does a great job filling the gap between my 8' Tsunami Airwave & a 10" Lamiglas Surf & Jetty. It's light enough to throw plugs for a couple hours, has nice action to walk a pencil popper, and all at a price that I don't cringe if it gets banged around a bit in the back of the truck. This is a great rod at the regular price, if it's on sale it's a steal! Buy a couple extra & give them as gifts! Recommended.
Pros
  • Feel, Durability, Fairly Lightweight, Nice Quality, Great Price!

Nice Rod for the price
July 19, 2013
I haven't used the rod that long but my initial impressions are good. I used this rod to throw 3/4oz to 2oz lures and coupled with my penn fierce, this thing casts a mile and a half. The rod feels more higher end then the price. Nice finish and not too heavy. All in all I am please so far.

I am a striper fisherman and was curioious to know if this was a lightweight weight rod to use for lures on the beach. ( casting all day with a heavy rod is a pain)
1 Answer
Given the lure weights on the 8' and 9' models these rods would be suitable for casting lighter jigs and plugs, but rods in this more affordable price range are generally not the lightest in terms of overall weight.
