Brass Tide Clock4.25''$61.99 USD

The Schelling Brass Tide Timer is easier to understand and more readily accessible than a printed tide table. The red ball hand always shows how many hours until your next high or low tide because the Tide Timer runs on moon time, where each day has 24 hours and 50 1/2 minutes. Especially along the East Coast of the United States and Canada, the tidal cycles are regular and rhythmic with two high and two low tides during each lunar day.

Features:

  • Heavy gauge solid brass Tide Timer
  • Wall mount
  • 4.25" diameter

Schelling Tide Timers are assembled in the USA by hand using the most accurate battery-operated quartz movements. All clocks are backed by Schelling's 1 Year Free Repair/Replacement Guarantee. After 1 year, movements or hands will be replaced by Schelling for the lifetime of your clock.

Tide Timers are recommended for use on both Coasts of the United States and Canada.  On the Atlantic they never need adjustment.  On the Pacific, including Hawaii, they can be calibrated to different coastal locations using our proprietary setting tables. Tide clocks will not work in the Gulf of Mexico.

This is our second unit, the first having lasted since 1982.
We now live on the Left Edge, on a 75-foot cliff on the Orogon
Coast. Next land would be the Philippines.
Many seaside events timed by this on the wall. So much
more quickly than by using tide tables! Just check the
position of the big red ball. Great value, and a delight!
Our Christmas present to us, in 1982, and now.
Pros
  • Very easy to read.
  • Very easy to calibrate monthly.
  • Beautiful and unusual decoration in main room.
  • Long-lasting.
  • Does exactly what we want it for - tell the tides!
Cons
  • None.

After you replace the battery, how do you set the tide clock?
1 Answers
Based off of your location you have given us (NJ) here is how to reset on the Atlantic coast.... Once you replace the batteries you will need to log onto www.tideclocks.com and click "About" in the menu bar. From there you will select High or Low tide in your area by clicking a link that is provided in the instructions. You will then click "Local Tides" from Step 1. You will follow that step by choosing a report and entering your zip code in Step 2. Next you will chose a upcoming tide of high or low that will be convenient for you to set your clock. For example: If the tide chart says "high tide at 3pm" and the red ball hand is pointing straight up to high tide, insert the battery at 3pm. To move the red tide indicator hand, locate the ride adjustment wheel on the back of the clock and rotate the dial. Once the tide clock is set you should not need to adjust it again until the batteries expire. All of these steps (with further details) will come with your clock when purchased.
