A lure that easily fits into several different categories, the Savage Gear Dragon Tail specializes in versatility and lifelike appeal to both freshwater and saltwater game fish. This slug-style bait features a hyper-ribbed and contoured body that allows for maximum reactivity to your rod tip. Its asymmetrical body design gives it a subtle tail swinging action when steadily retrieved, or an erratic darting action when jerked or twitched. The Dragon Tail even excels when rigged weightless and allowed to slow fall on slack line. Fish it like a swimbait, jerkbait, or stickbait, the choice is yours! Molded from a durable PVC material that is scent infused, the rigging options for this bait include on a jig head, as a swim jig or bucktail trailer, a weighted swimbait hook, Texas rigged, weightless on an EWG hook, and much more.

Flexy Squid with Salt infused
January 6, 2022
I watched a top captain fish Block Island for trophy Stripers. He used a Shad imitation on a two ounce jighead because "It looks like a Squid." They stopped making his brand; and then!... I found this 8" imitation that has one solid half (like a Mantle), and a ringed more flexible half (that behave like the tentacles). I can't wait until Late April gets here and the squid move into Greenport. I betcha the local game fish will be looking for squid as well!.
All I need is the elusive 2 ounce swimbait hook for a perfect presentatoon
Pros
  • Right size to match a medium Squid.
  • Moves Right forwards and backwards.
  • Has enough solid body to take a sizeable hook for larger gamefish.
Cons
  • Finding a 2 ounce swimbait hook for great perfect presentation
  • Has no Mantle fins

How did I get so lucky?
January 6, 2022
I've got a few lures and a few soft baits that I can throw when they are taking big sand eels. Some of them can get pretty pricey, but a jig head on one of these
and I can make a big Sand Eel presentation to a hungry striper or other game fish. It had good movement in the
Water, as per the Dragon Tail videos on You Tube. But the color is a match for Sand Eels (Olive Brown Pearl). I'm ready, Bring On the Striper Season.
Pros
  • Color, cost, action
Cons
  • No scent.
