Capt. Dave Denkert has been fishing there since he was a boy, studying not only the snook, redfish, bonefish and other skinny-water species he fishes for but also the tides, seasons, weather and how they affect fish behavior.

His years of fishing experience pay off big time in this episode. After fishing deeper, murkier water, Capt. Denkert maneuvers his flats skiff into clear, shallow water to sight-fish for reds and snook. From the poling platform, he spots muds and gamefish off his boat's bow in potholes and tells his crew exactly where to cast.

Toward the end of the episode, Capt. Denkert even trades places with his crew and shows he still knows how to catch fish. All told, dozens of snook and redfish were brought to the boat, admired, unhooked and released.
