Designed to meet the rigors of fishing the Cape Cod Canal, RH Composites Canal Crusher Series Conventional Rods handle rocky terrain, fast moving currents, and powerful fish with ease, performing above the standard surf rod all too often used on the canal. The Canal Crusher’s 2-piece design achieves unmatched strength not found before by an improved tip to butt connection that is conducive to a thicker, more durable walled tip section. The moderate-fast action alleviates the stress of working large jigs and pencils will orbit much further than before. The Canal Crusher series also includes a heavier model, perfect for land based shark fishing.

I use this rod to cast giant glide baits and swimbaits for stripers. I had snapped a few lamiglas casting lures that were well within their weight range, so decided to try something a little sturdier. This rod loads nice, and it's very light. It has a ton of backbone to handle 30 plus pound stripers. I also use it for yellowtail in CA, and it has no problem with them either. The two sections of rod connect just above the handle which gives more stability to the rod, versus a 50/50 split like rods of the past. I have been using it to cast baits from 5 all the way to 13 oz, and it loads well with both. If you cast the heavy stuff make sure its a lob and not an all out pendulum cast and you'll be just fine. Great Rods, worth the wait if they aren't in stock. Thanks RH
Pros
  • Strong, light, loads up well, tons of backbone for fighting heavy fish, looks great.
Cons
  • top section is almost 8 feet so if you don't have a truck or suv its hard to transport.
