poor quality handles and even poorer customer service
August 8, 2022
I bought two Behemoth 9/10 reels for a couple for a couple of new rods. Fishing the Kenai river for Sockeye. Both reels had their handles come loose within two days of fishing. One of them actually fell off before we noticed the issues. Sent Redington an email with pics and a description of the issue. Heard nothing back. Called Redington "customer service" got a lot of excuses how busy they are and how I need to remove the backing and fly line and send in the reels. They wont send me a handle and need to inspect the entire reel. Shipping cost more than a freakin handle so Im on my own. While fishing on the Kenai, I noticed most of the guides were running the Behemoths and I sold several of my friends on these reels also. One of my guide friends told me the Behemoths only last a season or two but they are less expensive than a good reel. He says the handle are a problem, and fall off or get bend, they are the weak link. Based on this flaw and the poorer service I got on two brand new reels, I'll avoid any Redington product going forward and will be warning everyone I know about the flaws and crappy service,

Best Bang For The $$$$

Excellent fly reel. I've fished Orvis, Penn, Van Staal, among others and this reel for the money is as good or better than those priced 3 - 4X the price. The drag system is amazing stopping large stripers and false albacore with ease. I highly recommend this product.

Stopped a 38 inch striper in its tracks

This reel handled a 38 inch striped bass from the beach in rough surf like nothing else. I stopped that fish with one turn of the drag knob.
