Rebel Jumpin Minnows are slender minnow-shaped topwater baits that sashay back-and-forth on the surface to create a hypnotizing action like that of a fleeing baitfish. Internal weighting allows for long casts with this slender bait, making it perfect for schooling fish and anytime fish are feeding on top.

Rebel Jumpin Minnows:

  • Slender minnow-shaped walk-the-dog lure
  • Perfect for targeting surface-feeding fish

Great lures, with a couple alterations for saltwater
April 26, 2022
Jumpin' MInnows are one of the first lures out of the tackle box for early season schoolie stripers. Such great action, and so much fun to get topwater strikes. I always change out the split rings and trebles. The factory split rings won't hold up to schoolies - they are better geared to freshwater fish, and even then I would swap them out. The trebles can be replaced with VMC inlines - stronger, easier to handle the fish, and so much gentler on these schoolie sized fish. I've taken 40"+ stripers on these rigs, and no need to worry about the split rings or hooks opening up.

so versatile

The jumpin minnow is a classic, catching everything from freshwater LM and Pickerel to Stripers, Blues, and southern species like Snook. I use Heddon Spooks a lot, and they're great, but I do like how the Jumpin Minnow has a slightly more narrow profile, which can help if the bite if finnicky. And who doesn't love a good topwater explosion?!

sweet action
November 17, 2020
Nice light tackle spook style jammie. First time I used it got a couple of short 20" stripers in a half hour in the creek in front of my house, where i had only caught one previously. Beautiful action, make sure to leave slack after the twitch to allow it to glide a little, keep a nice rhythm, and don't set the hook until you feel the fish, they will knock it around without connecting due to the fish pushing the water and sending the lure astray, just be patient and keep the rhythm. Low light conditions best (sunrise/sunset). Trebles are weak and will start to corrode quickly with salt exposure, suggest you replace with VMC 1/0's or whatever you're into. Probably a great Northern Pike and Largemouth lure when topwater is the call.
Pros
  • Cheap
  • Sweet sweet action
  • Rebels are super trad
Cons
  • Hooks are weak and will not last in the salt, might as well replace first thing

Great lure

I remove the front hooks and add a beefier bucktail hook on the back. Great action for blues, and it catches stripers as well.

Looking forward to trying on albies as well.
