Redesigned for 2019, the Quantum Energy S3 PT Baitcasting Reels utilize Quantum's Performance Tuned technologies to provide tournament level performance. Built around a one piece aluminum frame, the Energy S3 PT has a rugged construction yet is incredibly lightweight. The implementation of Quantum's PT ACS 3.0 centrifugal cast control system allows these baitcasters to excel at throwing a wide variety of baits, from weightless soft plastics to heavy punching rigs and everything in between. This cast control system allows you to dial in the exact amount of braking force without removing the side cover that's required on other reels. Fisherman of all varieties will be happy to put the Energy's Flippin' Switch feature to work. The Flippin' Switch increases ease-of-use while flipping and pitching and is a very popular feature with anglers who use the low profile reels for vertical jigging techniques in areas were depth can suddenly change. Rounding out the design of the Energy S3 PT is Quantum's signature PT Bearings and PT Gear Design that combine for unmatched smoothness and operability.

Whats the difference between this reel and the Quantum Accurist S3?

Hi Chris, The Quantum Energy S3 PT: has a Flipping Switch and 11 bearings whereas the Quantum Accurist S3 PT Inshore: has no Flipping Switch and has 9 bearings. The Quantum Energy S3 PT is also designed for Freshwater fishing applications and the Quantum Accurist S3 PT inshore was designed for Saltwater fishing applications. Is the shogun 7' rod a good match

The Quantum Energy S3 PT Baitcasting reel could be used, but is more for pitching/flipping for Largemouth bass reel. You might want to look at the Quantum Accurist S3 PT Inshore to pair with the Jigging World Shogun for saltwater fishing. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.

Can this reel be used in saltwater?

You can use this in saltwater. Always ensure you rinse this reel with freshwater after every single trip to prevent salt build up and corrosion.
