The Quantum Accurist S3 PT Inshore Baitcasting Reels are a salt-ready baitcaster designed to dominate anything that may come your way in inshore waters. Featuring a wide lineup of Quantum's Performance Tuned features, the Accurist Inshore provides a rugged construction, smooth performance, and best-in-class cast control. The Accurist Inshore is built around a sturdy, corrosion resistant, one piece aluminum frame strong enough to resist torque from heavy loads. This rigidity helps keep all bearings and gears perfectly aligned, preserving that out-of-the-box smoothness throughout the life of the reel, while a Saltguard protection coating ensures optimal corrosion resistance. Smoothness is further preserved thanks to the use of Quantum's PT Anti-Corrosion Bearings designed to withstand constant exposure to unforgiving saltwater environments. Anglers can expect to accurately cast a wide size range of lures long distances thanks to the fine-tunable Micro Adjust 3.0 ACS centrifugal cast control system, while the ceramic drag system provides a silky smooth drag with the stopping power necessary to put the brakes on a big stripers, snook, bull reds and more.

Great Reel
October 16, 2021
This reel packs a lot of bang for the buck. I purchased this reel for Fall flounder and speckled trout. It handled them with ease. The true test came when I hooked a bull red from the beach. This reel handled the fight like a champ. You can't go wrong with this reel.
Pros
  • Lightweight and easy to use.
Cons
  • Would prefer a 105-110mm handle, but the one on the reel works just fine.

Very happy

I saw this on John Skinner's youtube channel and was just getting into bottom fishing at the time. 2 years later and it's still a durable workhouse -I don't leave home without it.
Pros
  • small and light but strong enough to pull in any fish I have come across so far.
Cons
  • none that I can find

2 year review Accurist S3 Inshore High Speed retrieve

This is one of the most versatile reels that I have ever owned. The ability to select the Flipping Mode for jigging is the main reason I purchased this reel. We have 3 of this model on the boat. This particular reel has been used on over 100 trips over the last 2 years. I fish the area of Long Island Sound, Block Island and Montauk using this reel for Porgies, Fluke, Sea Bass, Tautog, Blues and Stripers. The 25 lbs of drag has brought many 7-10 lb Fluke, Stripers, Tautog and Blues over the rails. The reel casts like a dream using Fins Windtamer 15# braid. However, while this reel is promoted as a saltwater reel, it does fall short. I have reels that are 10-20 years old that don't exhibit as much corrosion. See the cons below. That being said, I'm willing to replace parts as needed just because this is such a great reel!
If quantum were to use proper material and coatings on the offending parts, they would have a truly world class product.
Pros
  • Great smooth drag. Never had any issues.
  • Plenty of line capacity for 15-20# braid.
  • I don't see any need for the Power Handle, however my son likes using one.
  • Quiet and smooth drive-line.
  • Flipping mode is fantastic for jigging.
  • Replacement parts are inexpensive and available.
Cons
  • Side plate screws keep loosening. I would use blue Loctite but I disassemble and re-lube this reel 2-3 times per season and am not sure if the Loctite would build up and cause problems.
  • Thumb bar occasionally sticks, a little WD40 solves the problem for the rest of the day.
  • Finish on the aluminum frame is falling off.
  • Flipping selector lever corrodes and becomes difficult to move(will replace as needed)
  • Crankshaft corrodes, especially on the threads causing the threads on the Drag Star to also strip.(will replace as needed)

I haven't fished this reel much. But I have fished it a couple time in the Chesapeake bay. Jigging a 1 ounce bucktail for rockfish. It fishes nice especially for jigging. Was catching 18-25 inch rockfish. No weak points in the reel.

Awesome little saltwater caster

This reel casts a mile! Just bought one for casting lures and metals for bluefish, albies, and small mahi, and man does this thing have some casting distance and strength. Put it on a Tsunami trophy series TSTBC-601XH 50-100lb and it is so light i can balance the entire setup with one finger. spooled it with 40lb hi vis yellow Powerpro superslick and the line flies off the reel and has plenty of cranking power for big fish. Great buy for the price
Pros
  • Saltwater has done nothing at all to affect preformance. Light and small. Nice white finish. Casts a mile. Fantastic price for dual water type baitcaster.

Sizing varies slightly between manufacturers, but this would not be considered a 300 in any brand. Its more of a 150 size.
