the splicing kit, although somewhat pricey at first glance, is worth every penny. The medical grade caliper of the splicing tools is evident when using the needles. A slightly heavier bobbin would be better but the one provided is pretty good. my very first spliced on leader came out perfect. the instructional video is quite helpful.

Yes as long as you are obviously using hollow core spectra it will work no problem.
