I have never used braid before , ever, but braid TD recommended braid for a reel i am purchasing to do some surf fishing. Id like to know if braid is any different than mono or fluorocarbon I am used to using with my panfish reels?

There is a great difference in the way of casting ability and line capacity. You will be able to fit more of a heavier lb test on your reels and have better casting distance. Reels in today's market are recommended to use with braid.
