If the truth be told, Red does not disappear but in fact turn to a shade of Gray. This gray tone will help to blend the line in to the background and become much less visible to most fish that swim. The color red will completely fade out at a depth of 14 feet. Therefore, when targeting fish in depths of 20 feet or greater, Red Line is ideal. Whether you are deep cranking for bass; trolling for lake trout, walleye or salmon; to bottom fishing in deep rivers...Red PowerPro should be on your reel.
- Thin and Super strong at the same time. It has a lot of abrasion resistance.
- No cons.
- Strength, fishability, color options, spool yardage options
- Color fades over time
- strong knots, doesn't twist
- slightly pricey but worth the extra cost.
- price knot strength
It is recommended when adding braid to a reel to put mono line first correct? Questions is if I add a braided line of 40 or 50 pound braid what pound of mono do you recommend and what brand? Also if i buy the braid and mono line do you guys add tie the lines and add them to the reel? If yes to both what knot do you use to tie the mono to the braid?
Thanks in advance
When spooling braid onto a reel, if the reel does not have a braid-ready ring built into the spool which many new reels do, you have put either some electrical tape or several wraps of mono on the spool first. This will stop the braid from spinning on the spool. The pound test should be similar to the diameter of the braid (i.e. 10lb mono - 30-50lb braid). You can connect the mono to the braid with a double uni-knot. If you purchase a reel and braid from TackleDirect, you can put in the notes at the time of the order that you want the braid spooled onto your new reel and a member of the TackleDirect team will spool that correctly on for you. Again, typically we would use a double uni-knot for the braid to mono connection. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
