Point Jude Butterfish 1 1/2 , 2 oz. : A deadly choice when small menhaden (peanut bunker) or any other oval baitfish are the prey. Intricate design, bullet-like castability, and irresistable side to side action distinguish these lures from all others.

Point Jude Butterfish 2 1/2 oz. : Like the other two Point Jude Butterfish, this lure imitates juvenile bunker or menhaden. It is a little bigger to mimic slightly older, late fall bunker. It casts very far and has maximum flash and wobble action in the water. Depending on the retrieve speed, it can be skipped on top or planed at different depths in the water column.

2-1/2oz casts a mile but you need to retrieve it on the slower side, if you bring it in too fast it surfboards and loses its action.

We can't get these in our local tackle stores here in California, so it's a new look for our highly pressured fishery, Thanks Tackle Direct for the hook up!

Catches anything from Fluke to Stripers!!! I really like the single hook design...Saves the added expense of band-aids and tears in pants legs that would be experienced with a treble hooks!!! LOL
Pros
  • Design, single hook, "a fish magnet"!!!

One of the best tins out there!
January 9, 2014
Pt. Jude Lures are some of the best if not the best tins out there on the market. I have a bunch of the Classic Butterfish in different sizes and they flat out catch fish. The action is great on these things with a nice wobble that stripers, bluefish and even fluke can't resist. This lure is perfect for those days a stiff wind is in your face and the fish can't be reached with most other plugs. It casts like a missle. I always have some of these in my surf bag!

I had a question regarding the attachment point of the lure, that is, if a Tactical Anglers Clip (75 lb.) would fit properly. Upon looking at your photos of the lures I see that they are different. One pic shows a brass grommet molded into the lure, the other pic shows all three sizes with a loop at the end of the lure. How are they being manufactured now? I was concerned that the molded type would not work with the TA Clip.

All three sizes have welded rings so using the clips shouldn't be a problem.

Is this lure suitable for black sea bass jigging? Do you tip it with anything like bait strip? Thaks! (p.s. I'm new no jigging).

This will work and tipping it with bait does not hurt, it will only improve. I would also take a look at the Shimano Lucanus Jigs.
