Very nice rod for the money

Bought this combo rod to fish inland lakes in Wisconsin and the Sturgeon Bay shipping channel. Smooth casting using Berkley X9 8lb braided line, caught a few nice 10"+ yellow perch in the channel. Good feel and quiet, smooth retrieve. Going to order another heavier Pflueger Trion rod for some bass fishing back home in Florida.

Trout and panfish combo
February 1, 2022
I bought 2 of these combos to use for spin fishing for rainbow trout and bluegills. Reel performs well and has very smooth drag for the price point. Rod has perfect amount of backbone and flex for the trout fishing I do. Casts well with 4 lb line. I liked them so much I bought 2 more to put away and keep for when/if I wear others out.
Pros
  • Rod action just right
  • Drag smooth
  • Performs like more expensive equipment
  • Good line capacity
Cons
  • Unsure yet how long reel will stay smooth, but 2 years in still performing.

overall great combo
April 22, 2014
i chose the 7' but the size 40 reel felt way too big for the rod. Fortunately the guy at bass pro let me switch reels to the size 35. This feels MUCH better. the rod is solid, yet sensitive and the combo is lightweight, especially since i switched the size reel. I put 20lb braid on it and its a great combo, should be at least 100$ in my experience
Pros
  • sensitive, cheap, great product
Cons
  • the size 40 reel is too big for the rod
