I have hundreds of hours on my Senators and they have never given me any problems. I have a bunch that are at least 20 to 30 years old as well that are still in my rotation. Great reels.

Time tested and truly legendary reel.
June 15, 2018
Great reel for catching small tuna and smaller sharks. My father and his father grew up using Penn reels and had a bunch of the Senators. My grandfathers old Penn is still going to this day and the reel is older than me (33), with little to no maintenance other than a little bit of oil here and there and a good freshwater spray down after saltwater use.
Pros
  • Cant beat this thing. You abuse it and it laughs at it.
Cons
  • wish they made it in different colors, but I get it's the iconic Penn maroon

how would this reel hold up on big sharks, and also would it work on a ugly stik bigwater 7ft casting reel? Thanks
1 Answer
Well this reel certainly has the braid capacity to deal with the relentless long runs. But it would make for a slow fight. the reel would pair and balance well with your uglystik as well

hi when replacing drag washers non metallic ones do you grease them
1 Answer
Certain non-metallic washers contain a solid lubricant, making them ideal in installations where external lubrication is difficult or undesirable. I would still recommend using a lubricant when installing non metallic washers.

hi, Is this reel HT-100? and doing bottom fishing with 4/0 size isit the right choice with that gear ratio? thanks,
1 Answer
The Senator H2 does not use the HT-100 drag washers. It can be used for bottom fishing but, depending on the depth, you may want a slightly faster reel.
