- Quality and durability are awful
- drag power.
- durability
- some people may say that it is heavy, for me i find that this is the max of what i like to use at 24oz, but for what it does and for the rod i use it is balanced very well.
- Solid.
- None
- Well made.

- Strength, build quality drag
- Drag does not ever get completely resistance free
- Durable, penn tough
- Dura drag is strong so if you want to dial in a loose drag, that type of setting still gives a fair amount of resistance. I believe this was addressed in the III model
- Hold a good amount of braided line. Drag can handle fish above reel size with no flexing or torque issues.

- very good reel , great drag.

- Price
- A little bulky for the size
- Everything except
- low end drag
- IPX6 rating. Solid construction.
WITH THE PENN SLAMMER 3 5500 REEL?
I HAVE THE REEL READY JUST NEED A GOOD ROD TO
GO WITH ..
Which rods are a good fit for slammer 3 6500HS? Targeting Striper on the Cape Cod canal. Mostly Jigging and using jerkbaits, maybe a bit of plugging and surf fishing.
My budget is $350, but if the quality is increasing insignificantly with a higher price tag, i would like to stay below these numbers.
Based on reviews from various forums, i feel that these rods are good, however i do not mind any other recommendations.
tsunami airwave elite
st croix mojo
st croix avid
odm jigster
lamiglass xsra1205
star rod paraflex
Thanks!
The Penn Slammer III spinning reels can be used for surf or seashore fishing. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
The Penn Slammer 5500 IV (III is discontinued) will pair nicely with the St.Croix Mojo Inshore spinning rod JIS76MF. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
The Penn Slammer III 8500 Highspeed reel will pick up line a lot faster than the regular 8500 or the 7500 so you may want to consider that.
Thanks!
