Solid medium duty reel

I use these for a fishing charter business. They are a good value for the price point. The 4000 series has a smooth drag and plenty of retrieve speed. I got it with a combo package with the matching 7' rod so it does double-duty with fluke and striped bass trips. The power knob is a nice, comfortable addition.

Is the the Penn 4 4000 good for some good sized tarpon or do I need a bigger size

Hi Jonathan, The Penn Pursuit 4000 will not be enough to handle good sized tarpon. We recommend at least going with the 6000 Size and 8000 size to have enough capacity to handle larger tarpon. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!
