Penn Legion Inshore Rods make your light tackle inshore fishing more fun, whether you're teasing a shy trout, pitching to a tailing redfish, making long casts to an elusive tarpon, slowing the hard run of a snook or playing a reef bound snapper.

A 30-ton graphite blank with a carbon scale blank wrap provides enhanced strength and performance, and Fuji stainless steel frame guides with Hardloy high-grade aluminum oxide inserts allow for smoother casts and increased durability.

The Fuji graphite rod seat with custom double anodized aluminum hood creates a secure union with the reel that is comfortable to the hand. All lighter action models feature a sculpted Grade A cork handle and the heavier action rods have sculpted EVA handles. Comfortable rubber gimbals are included on all heavy and extra heavy models.

Penn Recommended Reels for Legion Inshore Rods - See Below
Sixteen of the Penn Legion Inshore rods are spinning and balance cosmetically with the PENN Sargus, Battle, Spinfisher and Conquer reels. The three conventional rods look and perform great when matched with the Torque and Squall round reels and the Sargus and Pursuit low profile reels.

Great all-around rod
September 15, 2015
Just got his rod in the 15-30 7' for local spillway fishing. It has great backbone on it and provides a good fight to that big fish. I matched it up with a 5500 spinfisher and it's a killer combo.
Pros
  • Backbone
Cons
  • None!

Heavy Duty Stuff
January 20, 2014
Caught some huge snappers in Cuba with this rod, paired with the penn batlle 6000 reel.
The rod can take some heavy weights, after running out of 2oz pyramids I started using random
rocks i could find around the beach. Improvised beach rod!
Pros
  • Price
Cons
  • Lighter lures are a little harder to cast, stick with the heavier stuff.

LEGIN2040S70 rod
February 6, 2013
A very good inshore rod for fishing top-water and swim baits. Caught a lot of blues and 25 lb+ stripers on this rod.
Pros
  • Light and sensitive. Rod weight is only about 9.5 oz .
Cons
  • Wish it comes with SIC rather than hardloy guides.

Hi TackleDirect, Out of the (PEN-1001) and (PEN-1002) Which rod is the split grip rod? They look like almost the same rod?
1 Answers
Neither of those rods has a split grip. The PEN-1002 has a slightly longer rear grip.
