I ordered the penn low profile 200 bait caster.. ( night and day difference) easy to dial in different weights , cast super far , smooth drag , i kind of regretted not getting it earlier, but this Is what makes me appreciate it more .. spooled with 30lbs braid ,bird’s nest are to a minimum.. usual operator error of not dialing in the lure size .. I would recommend anyone who uses a bait caster or thinking of getting one to purchase a penn low profile one .you can use it in freshwater and saltwater.
Quality performance in a small package..
I’m definitely going to get another one .. maybe. 300 or 400 high speed.
.
- Smooth (7 bearings)
- Durable
- Clean looking
- Can handle big fish
- 25 pound of drag ..
- Can?t just have one ..
- You?ll get addicted and want them all.. you?ve been warned..
- Low profile, very light, great drag and quick retrieve.
- Level wind does not engage when letting out line.
- Amazing Freespool
- Smooth and Insane drag on a 300 size baitcaster!
- Great line take-up for small reel
- Over performs conventional reels twice its size
- Not a deal breaker, but my only wish is that the entire reel was aluminium. I know it would add an ounce or two, the handle and drive side-plate are all aluminium, cast control side plate is plastic. Only con I can come up with.
- Drag and line capacity rings.
- The double handle can be improved . A single handle seems like a better fit.
- Very well made. Great drag at 24lbs and zero fading under pressure.30lb sufix 832 floro leader and was a blast to snook fish with! Now the delima is which to snook fish with; my Slammer 4500 or my new fathom 400 haha! Again Penn, you knocked it out of the park with this
- None so far. None at all! Thing casts a country mile too
- Thanks Penn! Over say last 7-8 years or so, Penn has really stepped their game up especially inshore gear.
- Oh and offshore, I have the fathom 2 speeds 400(4) and the Squall 30vsw.(6). In hindsight, I would have purchased more of the fathoms for my trolling spread vs the Squallvsw series. Just a better all around reel. For bottom too. Also have a Slammer III 8500HS and a Slammer III 5500 mainly for sight fishing. Never know what might be following your caught fish to the boat haha! Please keep up the...great work and innovation! I work part time for Bass Pro Shop, Daytona Beach and I'm always promoting Penn reels.
- Keep up the quality workmanship and innovation!
- Straight up #1!
