Original spool but check line lay

Looks original equipment identical but had to add a shim to keep line lay skew going to top. The extra spool was to keep different braid strength and color to swap out but I had to add a shim and expected spool to have same heights. I didn’t think drag stack thickness made a difference but probably does. Makes spool swap extra step to remove spool shim. Oh well a minor inconvenience.

Replacement spool for Penn Battle ll

Ordered a replacement for my Penn Battle ll 1000 series from Tackle Direct. It was not only the cheapest that I could find but the shipping was very expedient. I did find one at a lower price with a six to eight week ship time which was in my opinion ridiculous. I was very satisfied with the service I received and will continue ordering from Tackle Direct.

Perfect fit for my reel. Unable to find this anywhere else, not even on the Penn website. Always like having a spare along in case line twist becomes too much of an issue. Now I've got one with braid and one with monofilament.

I like having deferent spools with deferent pound test in my bag. This allows me to take one rod. These spools are well made and change out fast and easy.

It works well if your limited on reels. I do mostly kayak fishing so space is limited.
Pros
- If your switching lines from braided to mono or even different test strength. Its easy to switch out spools.
Cons
- The only con is having to rethread your line.

I try and get two spools for many of my reels so i can make them as versatile as possible, but many time the are close to half the cost of the reel which is redic! Love i can get an affordable spool for my battle 500!

Pure Fishing / Penn Reels has not released the spare spools for the Battle III yet. Once they do will will have them available to order. The Battle II spool may fit for the same size reel, but the drag system on the Battle III has been enhanced to the HT-100 Carbon Fiber Drag and Battle II spool may not perform correctly. I have a Penn Battle ll (3000) reel and a Penn Battle (3000) extra spool. It seems to fit fine, but I want to make sure it is okay to use this other series and will not hurt anything.
I know its got a different paint scheme but I don't care about that.
