    Models with Rubber Gimbals -
Soft yet durable rubber gimbal provides the same function as a traditional metal gimbal without the worries of scratching or cracking the gel coat on your boat. Rubber gimbals also help ease the pain that traditional metal gimbals can put on your body while fighting a fish.

An $8.00 oversize packaging charge applies to this item as it ships in a long heavy duty tube to protect your items. This fee will still apply when discount shipping coupons are used.

    Great but room for improvement

Overall in the 76, its a great rod but there could be some further refinement that hopefully the II version addresses. My opinion cork and guides could be better done. Not terrible, just a smidge better
    Pros
    • Great feeling rod. And looks great if you can look past some slight imperfections with the cork and the guides

Stiff Rod That Casts a Mile
    November 4, 2020
Got the 7HF and took it out for some surf action. Not the right rod for this by any means, but it served the purpose. Super stiff, but with a 4oz lead I was casting 60-70yds (further than I could with my Daiwa 9' surf rod). Set in a sand spike I couldn't tell on bites of whiting so just held it to feel. Has become one of my favorite rods.

    Broke just past second guide
    October 14, 2020
Rated to 40 pound mono. I would expect it to handle 15 pounds of drag easily.
I had a guest on my boat who dead lifted a 10 pound skipjack tuna over the gunwale.
The rod snapped in two. It wasn't high sticked and the tip broke. No, it snapped right where you need backbone. Maybe used 6 times. Very disappointed.

Great rod paired with a battle two reel. Great for a cheap inshore fishing combo.

Reasonable for the price but stick to Star or Shimano if you plan to fish lures most of the time
    February 15, 2020
I picked up the 7'6" version of this rod that throws 1/2 to 1-1/2 oz because the rod felt more rigid than the inshore Star and Shimano Terramar rods that throw similar weights. I also liked that the handle felt fairly thin for what the rod could throw. The rod feels sensitive for bait fishing, and I can feel small taps from small inshore species like grunts and juvenile snapper. This sensitivity is facilitated by the rod tip (amount of rod blank with the first 4 guides on it). However, it's the sensitive rod tip that makes it a less ideal lure rod. The tip bends so easily that it absorbs lure action, and you get less feedback when working lures. The sensitive tip also seems like it belongs on a different rod when working lures. The tip bends much sooner than the rest of the rod and looks like it's going to break off the rod before the rest of the blank starts to bend. This is not what I consider a fast blank. It hasn't broken though and as I use it more the action of the rod may be more suited to my tastes.
    Pros
    • price
    • bait fishing
    • looks awesome
    • light weight
    Cons
    • Weird blank action
    • lure fishing

I have two other of this rod. Needed one more for customers to use. It is a good rod for $100. The only negative thing would be the hook hanger is on top of the rod and once in a while braid line will flip over the top of that and get hung up. The hook hanger design should be changed.

Great rod and reel combination, the rod is light with good balance. I have several Penn fishing rods, all are well made with excellent reviews. I will use this setup fishing Tuna in the Gulf out of Texas, this will work great for the Black and Yellow Fin Tuna, chunking and fly lining Kings.
    Pros
    • Balance, Weight and value, hard to beat. Thanks TD
