Interested in a 6500any recommendations for a rod to pair with it?
1 Answer
Hi Jon, For the Penn Authority, we recommend the Ocean Tackle international Fathom Blade Jigging rod rated 400g in the spinning configuration ( https://www.tackledirect.com/ocean-tackle-international-fathom-blade-jigging-rods-2019-models.html ) or the St. Croix Mojo Jig in the 5'8 X-Heavy( https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-mojo-jig-rods.html ). For casting applications we recommend the Ocean Tackle International Tuna Sniper popping rod in 8ft 40-65lb or 60-80lbs( https://www.tackledirect.com/ocean-tackle-international-ts2-popping-rods.html ) or the Centaur Anglers Constellation rod in 8ft 1in rated 140-160g ( https://www.tackledirect.com/centaur-anglers-choice-constellation-inshore-popping-rods.html ). Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with!

Please Clarify.  Can these reels be dunked in saltwater and have the handle cranked while under saltwater and not allow water to penetrate the internal components like the Van. Staal reals?

Hi Frank, The Penn Authority reels are stated to be fully sealed and are designed to be able to handle splashing and dunking. We are unsure to what degree they compare to the Van Staal as they are not released yet. Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with

Traylon
from TX asked:
July 25, 2022
What is the braid capacity on these reels
1 Answer
Penn has not released the exact specs for this reel yet, however they appear to have the same line capacity as the Slammer IV in equivalent sizes.

For example, the 4500 Slammer IV gets 235 yards of 12 lb mono and 320 yards of 20 lb braid. The 4500 Penn Authority has the same mono capacity, so it can be assumed that it also gets 320 yards of 20 lb braid.

Hi DJ, The IPX 8 rating on the reel is a rating in the consumer industry that rates how water resistant a product is.
