I think the ring keeps the hook from ripping out better than without. Fliyline sardines also seem to have better action.

Great Hook For Live Bait!

Last Summer we were bait fishing over a big bait school for Snapper and Gummy shark when we saw a school of YellowTail King fish turn up, as they were not supposed to be there we were not prepared for them?
I looked around my tackle boxes and found some size 8 hooks and a pack of 4/0 Owner Mutu Circle Ringed Hooks,
I quickly hand lined some live bait then attached them to my 15 lb Snapper line via my Owner Mutu Circle Ringed Hook and nose passage of my liveys.
All most a full minute later we were all smashing and mixing it up with 15 to 20 lb Kingies, even though we lost most we had a great time catching this unexpected gamefish.
