Best Monofilament
April 23, 2019
This is my favorite Monofilament, it is all that I use. I use Stren any time I'm fishing topwaters with trebles. The stretch in the stren allows the fish to fully inhale the bait. My favorite color is the clear blue, I like low visible line.
Pros
  • Low visible
  • Strong
  • Very Abrasion Resistant
Cons
  • None

It's good line, but it twists and kinks too much.

Nice line for the money but remember to buy a fresh one each season
January 12, 2015
Like all monofilament lines, Stren Original is good when it is fresh. After some months of exposure ( UV, fishing conditions ) its quality worsen dramatically, so it is important to change a line for a fresh one before a new season
Pros
  • Soft, invisible in the water, reasonably strong

Great line
January 9, 2015
I used 6lb stren as a kid bone fishing in Miami. Also used for trout, snapper , permit and anything else on the flats in Biscayne Bay. I loved fishing ultra-light. I had a home built fen wick rod with a Penn 716 reel loaded with stren 6lb. Fluorescent blue mono. I still think stren gives you the best bang for your buck.
Pros
  • Price, knot strength, abrasion resistance
Cons
  • None

Nice line
October 24, 2014
This is some nice line for bottom fishing, trout (2 - 6 lbs range), and to tossing lures for small and large mouth bass. Has low memory when compared to other brands and for the price it the best.

Great for bottom fishing!

I use it in 14lb for Spot and Croakers. I sometimes get a nice Fluke! It is great!
Pros
  • Very good for the price.
Cons
  • Tangles a bit.

Best Mono for the Money
March 1, 2014
I think this mono is the best for the money. I use the 6lb test exclusively on my light tackle crappie and bluegill rod. It is strong and resists abrasions and has limited memory. I love the price for this mono, it does not break the bank.

recommended if you're on a budget
Pros

  • abrasion resistant

  • like all mono lines this too has memory
