Step on to the boat for the first day of your dream fishing trip and you get the first look at the lodge gear. Inspecting the faded finish, pitted guides and disintegrating handles, don't say we didn't try to help. Okuma Nomad Travel rods were constructed for anglers who want their total experience to equal the quality of their destination, and that includes fishing great rods. Constructed in three pieces and utilizing European spigot ferrules, Nomad Travel rods deliver one-piece rod performance. Each model includes two tip sections, one lighter and one heavier, to increase versatility while keeping luggage to a minimum. Premium components were chosen for rock-solid durability. Secured in a custom padded and waterproof case, Nomad Travel rods travel easily in overhead luggage bins, alleviating the difficulty and expense of long rod tubes.

Very Heavy
July 29, 2021
I ordered this rod for an upcoming Florida keys fishing trip. Most of the fishing would be casting small lures. This rod was thicker then my offshore tuna rods. I exchanged this rod for the Okuma Nomad Inshore ML rod and couldn’t be happier. The components on both rods are top quality but the inshore model fit my needs better.
Pros
  • Price
  • Build material
Cons
  • Entirely way to heavy for my needs.
  • Awkwardly thick

For heavy jiggs only
July 26, 2021
Unless u plan to drop heavy jiggs for tuna or other big fish this rod is not the typical all around travel boat rod. Quality and proce is great and unmatchable. However, I found it to me to heavy for my needs. Also… u need a 8000+ series reel for this in case u don’t have one.
Pros
  • Price, quality, travel case, warranty
Cons
  • Heavy, stiff, not an all purpose rod.

The Most Versatile Fresh and Salt Water All-In-One Spinning Rod!
July 16, 2021
I used this rod in freshwater with the Medium tip, then went to salt water with the MH tip. It has great action and with both tips, and it feels like a one-piece rod. I want to order the travel Surf rod now that is 10 foot. I use to pay $50 to ship my rods from California to Florida (one way) with United State Postal Service, and would have to do this one week before arriving, then I would have to spend another $50 to ship them back. Now, I can just Carry them on the plane with me, and save the shipping costs. Even though the Okuma Travel Rods cost more initially, they will pay for themselves in the long run. And the Nomad Travel Rod has a lifetime warranty.

Thank you Tackle Direct for making it possible for me to afford an Okuma Travel Rod!
Cons
  • Enrollment into Okuma's warranty program is not easy and their website is not user friendly.

Sweet Travel Rod
September 16, 2018
Well made great looking rod. The spigot ferrule will take some getting used to, the gap when seated does not feel right and looks awkward. Performance will be the real judge, I will trust the rod's designers to know their craft.

The rod has one hell of a backbone and should have no problem landing an AJ.
Pros
  • Comes with two tips to adjust the rod's strength
  • Travels great, fits into the overhead compartments even on the regional jets
  • Multi weight tips
Cons
  • Landed at the Gulf Coast the week of Tropical Storm Gordon, no boating for me, I should have bought the Surf Rod version, hmmm.

Seriously heavy duty travel rod

Bought this for deep dropping from a head oat, while traveling with the family. It should handle 16 ounces of lead and meat while dragging for tilefish without a problem. It's not light, but the quality is really good. Since I can't take a one piece in the van with the kids, this is the best option.

Where is difference between okuma NT-C-703L-ML and NT-S-703L-ML? Only numbers of guide 6 or 5? Both pictures are the same
1 Answers
Hello Normunds, the Difference between the two rods are that the NC-C-703L-ML is for a conventional reel, and NT-S-703L-ML is for a spinning reel.
