Awesome value!

Use this rod down in the FL Keys for light popping and jigging. Tore up the tuna and dolphin on this thing. Have it paired with a new Quantum Cabo 50 and 30lb braid. Casts so far and sometimes lose sight of the lure. Got to test the Okuma customer service when the rod broke on a large amberjack. It wasn't the rods fault as the angler totally high sticked it. Okuma replaced the rod for only $19.95. No hassles either. Top notch product and top notch customer service.
Pros
  • Value
  • Feel and casting distance
Cons
  • Finish not as nice

Can rate functionality and customer service all from one trip!
April 23, 2014
I do a yearly trip to the keys and we primarily focus on jigging and popping, Slayed the tuna and dolphin on this rod until it's final demise on a 60lb reef donkey. Over-zealous angler and a heavy fish. Totally high-sticked it. Still landed it! Okuma replaced it with ease for just $19.95 for shipping. Only had to ship back the part of the rod with the model number. The rest of my crew fish OTI and they were impressed with the casting distance and feel of this rod...not to mention customer service.
Pros
  • Great value!
  • Great customer service
  • function and feel
Cons
  • finish not quite as sharp
  • guides are a bit weaker than most

Does this rod have a gimbal? Is that just a butt cap in the picture? Thanks.
1 Answer
This rod does not have a gimbal. Just a rounded base at the butt of the rod.
