I use this as a back up reel in case one of my Okuma Trio Baitrunner reels to be sent in for service. Its a good reel for the money.

Is this reel safe to use for salt water surf fishing?

This reel can handle splash and spray but can't be dunked and should be rinsed after saltwater use.

im looking at an okuma ceymar baitfeeder, i run 20 # power pro, 300 yrds., i fish for catfish, 2 to 5 lbs, sometimes a 15 lb, comes along, i like to run close to 300 yrds., the cbf 40 or cbf 55 , how much braid does the cbf 40 hold and also the cbf 55 thanks

Hi Larry, The Okuma Ceymar Baitfeeder Spinning Reels have line capacity as follows. The CBF-40 can hold approximately 338yds of 20lb, and 270yds of 30lb Braided line. The CBF-55 size can hold approximately 600yds of 20lb, and 475yds of 30lb Braided line. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

This reel is rated for a maximum of 260 yards of 20 lb. test mono. The diameter of 20 lb. mono is equivalent to that of 65 lb. test PowerPro. Given those numbers, you would easily be able to fill this reel with 300+ yards of 30-40 lb. test braid.
