11 foot Cedros
June 16, 2022
I fished with this rod, with a Penn 6500 spinfisher spooled with 17 pound test line using 3 ounces of lead plus bait! I found the rod stiff and a bit unsensitive to bites in the surf!
Pros
  • Good weight and balance with the reel that I chose to use on it!
Cons
  • The tip action is just a bit heavy to detect the lighter bites I was getting!

OMG!

This has to be one of the most beautiful rods I’ve ever owned! Deep blue blank with electric blue guide wraps and crisscrossed black grips make this rod sharp! It is also super lite for a 11’ heavy action surf rod! For the price, you can’t beat it! I can’t say enough about the job the packers did to get this rod to me in Florida! I will be buying more rods from TackleDirect in the future! Great job!
Pros
  • Price.
  • Beautiful finish and grips.
  • Double footed guides.
  • Super lite weight.
Cons
  • None

I have the prevail, battalion and tsunami airwave, out of all I like this one the most, the airwave come in second, the weight is the same as the airwave but just a little bit stiffer
on top half, casting is really smooth, has good parabolic bend to it when casting, best lure weight for this rod is 3oz
Pros
  • light, smooth, parabolic

First surf rod, hooked up with a big striper after just a few casts with it. I needed a rod that would help me get my lure out as far as the fish were and this rod was perfect!! Cost was perfect.
Pros
  • Just the right price, light
Cons
  • Wish the eyelits where smaller.

Great buy for the price

Overall great rod for the price. Very light and accurate range on the rating. Plenty of action and still able to toss a 3oz with distance. Sweet spot is definitely at the 2oz mark, easy 100yds with a tin. Balances very well with a PT CABO 40. SiC rings are super smooth and action is set right for what the rod can handle, ratings definitely on mark. Very light too.
Pros
  • inexpensive, SiC rings, good warranty, solid match up for action and capabilities, covers a fair range of fishing enviornments
Cons
  • none really

Which would pair better with the Azores Blue 6000, the Okuma Cedros Surf A 10 surf rod, or the Cedros Surf CSX-S 10 rod. Or is the 6000 too big for those and I should be thinking the Azores Blue 4000
1 Answer
Hi Larry, What are you fishing for? If you plan on fishing both bait and lures I would recommend the Okuma CS-S-1002MHa Cedros Surf A Spinning Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/okuma-cs-s-1002mha-cedros-surf-a-spinning-rod.html This rod would pair well with a Okuma Azores 6000 reel for many surf fishing applications. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

What is the difference between the Cedros Surf A series and Cedros Surf CSX Rods?
1 Answer
James,

The Okuma Cedros CSX surf rods have a 30 Ton carbon blank where the Cedros A uses a IM-6 graphite blank.  The reel seat on the CSX is a Pac Bay with blue anodized hoods, where the A has Fuji with stainless steel hoods.   The style of guides on the CSX will allow you to cast farther.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
