I own 4 of them and getting ready to order my 5th. Live on the west coast and fish alot, bottomfishing for rock bass, lings, and halibut. I also use them for my salmon fishing. These rods deserve a 5 star rating.

Great rod & great shipping!
March 27, 2021
I ordered the Okuma CJ-C-661XHA Cedros A Series Rod and was pleased with the quality and looks of this rod, being E-glass it has a lot of backbone but a flexible tip to help fight and tire out large fish. I currently have it paired with a 9/0 senator reel in hopes of landing a nice size shark from the beach this summer if everything goes well. I’ve had to wait almost 24 yrs to make this trip back to the beach so I’m super stoked on trying out my new gear. Shipping only took 5 days and I was a little worried about the condition that it would be in upon arrival, but it was packed in a very heavy duty cardboard tube and had hard plastic end caps stapled to the tube. Inside was bubble wrap along with another rod that I had also ordered, both in perfect condition!
Pros
  • Great price
  • Nice looking rod
  • Heavy duty reel seat
Cons
  • Wish this specific rod had an option for a roller tip and stripper.

Worth the price
April 8, 2019
Bought the CJ-C-601XHa and paired it with a talica 16 with 100lb power pro.
The rod is amazing, flexes well so there isn't so much pressure on the angler. The fore grip is amazingly well done and love the texture it has.
Only wish that more if not all rods in this series came with a gimbal. Thats the only reason for -1 star
Pros
  • Good flex, less stress on angler
  • Great anti slip foregrip texture
Cons
  • No gimbal

Snapper season highlight
August 27, 2018
Great rod, received on time just before Atlantic Snapper season. Held its own against some 20 pounders, a few Goliath's, and a 5 foot sand shark. Married the rod with a Penn 20/counter which made the setup light and short for six people in the cockpit. Will be buying again.

Is the CJ-C-661XHa good for 100-300lb bluefin givin its line and jig rating?
1 Answer
Hi Nathan, The Okuma Cedros A rod in the 6'6 XH will be work for your application however we recommend going with a shorter rod to make it easier for you to jig, Rods such as the star paraflex jigging rod in 5'9 XX-heavy ( https://www.tackledirect.com/star-stellar-lite-jigging-rods.html ), and the Ocean Tackle International Fathom Blade in the 5'8 400g rating as other options ( https://www.tackledirect.com/ocean-tackle-international-fathom-blade-jigging-rods-2019-models.html ). So due to the E glass lower modulus does that contribute to the lower price of the Okuma Cedros series rods?

Thanks

1 Answer
Generally speaking, the price of the rod has to do with the components used to build it as well as the composition of the blank itself. So, at some level, the E glass does contribute to the price point of the rod.

Whats the difference between E glass and S glass rods?

Thanks

1 Answer
S-Glass is a higher modulus so, it will be stiffer and stronger by weight than the lower modulus E-glass. This means that S-glass rods generally, will be lighter in the hand (allows for thinner walls) if everything else is equal.

what is the biggest fish that a XXH rod could handle?
1 Answer
This rod is rated for line up to 200 lbs. The rod rating doesn't necessarily dictate the size of fish it can handle. There are many other things to consider, including max drag, line capacity, the angler, etc.

the xxh rod will pair good whit a poseidon 150 r?     which reels would you advise whit this rod?
1 Answer
For that specific reel, a better option would be either MH or H models. For the XXH model, a good reel would be the Shimano Torium 30PGA.
