Great reel

Had this reel for a while. I primarily use is real for jigging perfect size to cup in your hand. Drag is super smooth and the gears are very precise the torque is so good that when winding in a fish you don’t have the feedback cause of the precise gears. This reel is made for big fish with a small reel, not a lot of play or any in the handle after 2 year of use.

Lightweight with tons of pulling power. For the price, can't beat the performance. Plus, customer service at Okuma is top notch.

Is this to much reel for 80-100lb tuna? Would the 12 series be better?
1 Answers
The 16 series will be fine but i would suggest the 12 series if your are going to be jigging. The 16 is 30oz and the 12 is 24.7oz.

I am considering the Andros 16 as a dedicated mutton snapper reel for Use in the Dry Tortugas. I would load it with momoi 30 and 40 pound mono on a 9 ft Phenix hybrid blank. Am I pushing this reel beyond its capabilities? Thanks
1 Answers
We have yet to see the reels as they are still on pre-order. However, based on what we do know about them, they should work very well for Muttons. They will have great drag capability. You may want consider using braid though. The line capacity may not be large enough using 30-40# mono. We suggest using braid and maybe a 20-30 foot top shot of mono.
