Engineered to provide slow pitch anglers with the perfect tool for their craft, the Nomad Design Slow Pitch Jigging Rods utilize premium materials and components for unmatched performance. These rods are born from Nomad Design's incredible research and development program that is responsible for some of the most impressive innovations in sportfishing tackle and techniques. Designed to be lightweight and responsive, this range of rods has the perfect tip action to bring a slow pitch jig to life. The blanks feature a slow taper for a deep parabolic bend throughout the rod, with responsive tip section that has quicker recovery to impart more action on your jig. Deceptively powerful despite their extreme flexibility, these slow pitch rods have what it takes to fight and land both reef dwelling and pelagic species. Decades of on the water experience have led to the development of Nomad's Helix30T blank system, where the latest Japanese 30 Tonne Toray Carbon is utilized in a precise carbon wrapping construction that provides enhanced sensitivity, strength, and blank responsiveness. These advanced blanks are fitted with split grip EVA handles, a Fuji GM reel seat, and Fuji Alconite K guides for a jigging experience that will be second to none.

Lighter Jigs
June 3, 2021
The lighter jigs do not seem to work as well. 60g, 80g, do not work well and the action just isnt there with those weight. Once you get to 100g everything works as it should. The quality of the rod is fantastic.

jig ratings aren't dead on..
March 11, 2021
So far I think these rods claim to pitch lighter jigs than they're properly capable or working.. essentially, the rods (I own a 40-200g and a 60-320g) are too stiff for the lighter jigs in their claimed spectrum of jig weights.. aside from that fit, finish, feel and quality is on point. But they're just stiffer than say a Temple Reef, Shimano, or Accurate SPJ setup in a similar rating of jig weight class..
Pros
  • build quality and price point
Cons
  • for lighter (sub 150g) jigs buy something else.

would the 6'8" 1-7oz be a good option for bucktail jigging with 2-6oz for fluke?
1 Answer
Hi Todd, The Nomad Design NSPJOH682-4 Slow Pitch Jigging Rod 6'8" would be great for jigging for fluke. However since it's currently sold out I would also recommend a Jigging World Black Widow 150C Conventional Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/jigging-world-jw-bw-150c-black-widow-conventional-rod.html This has a lure rating of 2-6oz with a Fast action and would be ideal for fluke jigging applications. Please let us know if there's anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.
