The Nomad Design Slipstream Flying Fish perfectly mimics a flying fish both in action in the water and appearance with it's heavy duty hybrid design. The unique folding wing design allows the wings to fold back when cast for extra distance or when fighting big tuna and marlin for reduced drag through the water. The wings, tail fin and side fins can all be changed or replaced with Nomad Design flying fish wing sets, allowing for you to customize your own ultimate flying fish colour scheme. Designed to be trolled up to 8-9kn, the through body rigging means it can be rigged like a conventional skirted lure to slide up the leader when fighting a fish, ensuring fish stay hooked. When kite fishing, the hook holder channel along the top of the body allows the hook to sit perfectly positioned but completely concealed, meaning the only thing the fish see from below is a completely natural looking flying fish skipping along the surface. The flying fish lure can also be cast into schools of feeding fish or in any other situation to perfectly mimic a flying fish. This lure is very versatile and can be cast, trolled or fished from a kite, with a huge variety of rigging options to suit your specific style of fishing. Ideal for chasing big predator fish, as they all love flying fish.

This thing looks amazing in the water. Fishes true and I have had multiple billfish come up and play with it. Colors are vibrant, and I haven't had a single issue.

Used for casting to BFT tuna boils. Need an > 8’ 50-60 lb class rod for best ability for casting these lures. Troll ok but need to slow troll.

Nomad Slipstream 200mm flyers

Good match to real flyers. Larger size 200mm can troll at 4-5 knots or used as kite dead flyer. Not sure if color makes a big difference as the shape and action on surface likely two most important for the fish to strike but if you need to match the hatch for finicky pelagics then there are plenty of colors and size options available. I just got the standard Oceanic in small and large sizes to keep it simple. Nice option to have the different hook rigging on the lures for the varying presentations you may want to use - troll, cast, and kite. Smaller sizes OK for casting or trolling very slow and larger sizes for kite or trolling slow to medium fast

Lure is pretty easy to rig and allows you a couple of different options on how you want to rig it. Found that it doesn't troll to well on windy days with a lot of surface chop but on flat calm days when it's hard to get any action from your traditional lures, this thing lights up the water.

THE CALIFORNIA MORE EXPENSIVE AND WEIGH MORE?

Hi Steve, According to Nomad Design, The price difference is due to the design difference in the wings, the California wing is larger than the Standard 280 wing, which is to replicate the same Flyer found off the West Coast USA. Hi Howard, One main difference is the Nomad Design Slipstream Flying Fish in 280mm California size weighs 390g or 13-3/4oz and the Nomad Design Slipstream Flying Fish 280mm size only weighs 370grams or 13oz.
