The Buffalo Jig by Nomad Design is a slow pitch center balanced jig, meaning it is weighted in a way that makes it flutter as it falls, imitating a wounded bait fish. This type of jigging has become a popular technique worldwide for all sorts of reef fish including snapper, amberjack, and grouper, and is particularly deadly around schools of tuna. This style of jig is ideal when used with a long lift of the rod and then allowed to flutter on the drop. These Nomad Buffalo Jigs Work on Gag Grouper

Grouper fishing was slow with live bait. So I decided to try my buffalo jig, 80 gram silver with glow stripes, on my Ugly Stik Tiger Elite jigging spinning rod. I had never used a jig anything like this before, and didn’t expect it to work. I only tried the jig because I was bored. I was fishing in about 42 feet of water in the north eastern Gulf of Mexico. After a few minutes of jigging, a 28 inch gag grouper slammed the jig so hard that I could not turn the reel for a few moments. In addition to the grouper, I caught two grunts and a sea bass on the jig. I plan on using jigs more often in the future.

Cons
- It would have been nice if the jig came with two hooks instead of one.

This is a very good jig, especially when factoring in the cost. I tend to use these when I am fishing heavy structure or reefs when I know fish are holding close or deep inside the structure and there is a high likelihood for lost tackle.

love the profile and color of these jigs. but i think the wire and hardware is a bit light. especially for the price. compared to the oti jigs, side by side you can see how much more heavy duty the oti jigs hardware is. i do like some of the nomad colors a lot though, the crimson, pink and chartreuse glow are all really nice looking

I really like this jig. I have only used it fishing deep for blackfin, but it out produces other jigs I have thrown. Excellent color patterns and flutters really nice. Im sure it would work on anything you throw it at.

This is a slow falling/pitching jig that has center weight design. Same action when falling as the famous shimano flat fall jigs but with greater flowing color for night jigging.
