This jig is a universal jig for a variety of fish species. The VMC hook is world renowned for it's strengh and sharpness. The football jig head is appropriate for just about any soft bait you use it on. That is, keeping in mind, you match the size of the jig to the size of the soft bait and the desired application you plan on using it for. The football head design allows for the bait to stand up off the bottom, making it easier for the fish to hit it. All jigs have their own special design features and applications, but I find these jigs to be the most universal for most of my needs.
