I use number 10 and 8 for tarpon fishing, depend on the mullet size. The number 10 and 8 is extremely effective on big tarpon and small tarpon alike, with hook ups in the 80% range if properly letting the hook set , always giving the tarpon 2 seconds before letting the hook set purely on drag itself, (about 8 lbs of drag does the trick with rod tip high, sometimes controlling the drag manually to let the hook penetrate the mouth with split second holding the reels drag by hand and getting a strong penetration without setting the reels drag too hard in order to let the fish run its few first runs). Have fought monster tarpon with number 8 and 10, those hooks will not bend 96% of the time, it only bends when improperly hooked and the pressure is on the tip of the hook instead of the bent part (mainly when hook does not penetrate the upper lip and pressure sits on the tarpon bone. I have used the same hook over and over again catching over 10 tarpons, before loosing the sharpness. Do not Sharpen those hooks no matter what, as they will not work as good as when new, once its lost its sharpness, its time to use a new hook, a new hook is extremely effective with high landing rates, sometimes out of five bites, I may loose 1, the key is knowing to use those hooks and not set the drag too hard, nor too loose, and definitely do not sharpen them. I recommend this hook for any tarpon fishermen.

Hooked my first flathead with this hook, I put an offset in the hook with a couple sets of pliers. Worked perfect, live bluegill. Fast shipping, great price, bought 50 of these. I am still using the first 6 I tied on, still extremely sharp.

This hook is my only choice for drum fishing at surf.
