Had these teaser reels for 1.5 summers and they have seized up and will not lock in place. Even with washing with freshwater after every trip. Poor quality. Do not recommend wasting your money on these.

I ordered 2 of these, 1 was good to go, the other was missing the handle bolt and allen wrenchs. I called Tackle Direct's customer service and they had another reel in stock, he opened the box to make sure it had everything in it ( which it did) and shipped it rite out. The reels are good for the money, just make sure you check to see if all the parts are there before you are ready to install. TD's customer service is GREAT!!!!!

The Maxel is ok for the money but customer support from Tackle Direct and Maxel, Needs some improvement.

I ordered two of these reels and one was missing several parts. I sent one reel back and ordered another. Tackle Direct gave me 100% cedit on reel and freight. The second reel I received was also missing a part, the main shaft bushing. The bushing was the # 22 part on there parts break down schematic. I called Tackle Direct for the part. They said they have no parts and would have to call the distributor. It has been well over a week and no word. I called the distributor and was told that the person I needed to speak to was not in and he would be left a message to call me. No response as of yet. I ended up making my own bushing so I could use the reel, works fine now.

- Red works fine if it comes with all it's parts.
Cons
- Poor customer support from Tackle Direct and Maxel.

I just received 2 Maxel teaser reels from you. I need to mount them to my hardtop on my CC Jupiter. I did not realize they were set up only for mounting on a rail. Where can I get the plate and other pieces to mount them on my hardtop? If not I will have to return them.

There is no mounting bracket in available. It is possible to mount them to a hardtop but it would involve having the brackets custom fabricated at a machine shop.

After two trips the drag will not tighten down to stop the spool from dumping all the line.

The only drag adjuster on this reel is the silver knob on the side. If that is not working it sounds like you may have a defective reel. If that is the case please contact us at one of the outlets below and we will get you all taken care of!

Can these reels be mounted directly to a fiberglass hard top? The mounting provisions appear to only accommodate mounting on a rail.

You will need to have and aluminum plate fabricated and mount the reels onto them. That way, they have something to grip onto and won't get pulled right out of the fiberglass.
