Best Fishing Pliers
July 1, 2022
I've had these for 10 years and I live on the coast. Why pay $375.00 or more when you can pay $49.99 for the best pliers. Yes they will tarnish from salt water so what? I just rinse them off while I clean fish and I may spray a little WD40 and they look fine.

Great Pliers
July 11, 2021
Been using Manley Super Pliers for many years. For offshore fishing they are stronger and more reliable than needle nose types. Much easier to remove offshore hooks due to their beefier construction.
Pros
  • Strong and efficient
Cons
  • Some discoloration with saltwater use. Clean with fresh soapy water and silicone spray after a days saltwater fishing

Great pliers
December 15, 2020
The super pliers are seriously stout, the cutter is tough as nails and in a great spot for cutting wire, mono etc. 61/2 size fits my hand well.
Pros
  • Overall well designed and well made.
Cons
  • Needs a predrilled lanyard hole. Other than that, awesome tool for fishing.

I'm a Ocean kayak fisherman and surf caster. These little plier are tough and take a lot of abuse . The only reason I have had to replace them is one fell in the ocean and one got lost.
Pros
  • Durable
Cons
  • None

Indispensable

Started using Manley 5" 2007's after picking them up at Sunset Marina during the White Marlin Open last year. Since then they have been indispensable for me during offshore trips for pelagics and inshore trips for red drum. I dropped mine in the water (the fate of so many a favorite fishing tool, it seems) at the very end of last season, and I've ordered a replacement for myself and an additional pair as a Christmas present for my right-hand man.
Pros
  • Control, Durability, Precision Manufacture, Cuts Leader Exceptionally Well

Solid pliers
August 29, 2015
These are among the best fishing pliers you can find. Very solid, strong enough to cut through large hooks in an emergency if needed. However, they are heavy and not suited for the surf unless you are willing to take exceptional care of them after each outing. Not that they will get ruined, but will cosmetically acquire rust.
Pros
  • Solid and dependable, will last forever
Cons
  • Best kept in your truck or used on a boat, not in the surf.

best pliers for the money
August 7, 2015
I have tried hardware store pliers and two high end expensive fishing brands without complete satisfaction. So, I am back to a pair of the English made Manley pliers. The squared off nose grip is by far the strongest and most positive gripping and the cutting anvils are bullet proof. Done buying pliers for another 10+ years when the Manleys "might " need to be replaced.

Absolutely the finest pliers on the planet
August 19, 2014
I have owned pliers up to $375 per pair, and 15 years later of everyday fishing, these are the best. They still cut like they did on day one, still tight and strong. NOTE: they will rust, but its normal and its surface rust and DOES NOT at all effect performance. its more like a tarnish. I have 2 pairs over 15 years old and one newer one, you'd never know.
Pros
  • the best you can get
Cons
  • they last too long
