Great fall bait where I live. Caught some big Northern and Walleyes with this bait. I have only ever used the Silver/Blue. Only issue I have is out of the 3 that I have used so far 2 have had hooks break.

I'm from Canada and these things are amazing for early season Lake trout. The finish holds up pretty well even after multiple attacks, hooks are a little flimsy though, I would suggest upgrading them if you're expecting big fish.
In very clear water - Most successful with the 3.5" Black/Gold and 4.5" Silver/Blue, trolling or casting through schools of real smelt.
They'll also catch pike/walleye/bass - basically anything that can see or hear will hit those.

can't say why but this bait out fished other jerkbaits five to one on my local Hocking River in Ohio. We have red darters as forage along with shad, bluegill, shinners, etc.
the rainbow smelt mimics the red darters well. I caught twelve fish while my buddies caught two. then we switched baits and the live target kept on working.
