Great Rod

Super light and a beautiful moderate action that handles the upper limit - 2oz poppers along with throwing 1/2 oz bucktails. So far liking this rod a lot.

A terrific rod!
July 7, 2016
Oh yeah! This is one terrific rod. I use it for surf fishing on the Pacific Coast in rough and windy conditions when my conventional casting gear can't handle it, or at night when I don't want to deal with clearing backlash. This can chuck a 1-oz.SP Minnow a long ways and still throw a 2-3/8 oz. Super Strike popper half way to China. Don't need no 11" surf stick with this baby. You can cast all night and not get tired. Looks great too. And a great price--just see what the MSRP is on the Lamiglas website!
Pros
  • Right blend of size, weight and action for plugging the surf. Great quality. Good balance of relatively long casting with light weight.
Cons
  • Only con is that I don't have two.

8' surf and jetty
September 29, 2015
The 8' surf and jetty is an awesome bay and surf rod. I have been tearing up the trout and reds around the bays and gulf coast. Paired with a Shimano stradic 5000fj and 30# braid its almost too easy to land them. I have many custom rods but this set up is the "one rod" for all /bay slam (reds ,trout , and flounder) , even thinking of king mackerel fishing from the pier with it. Truly impressed.
Pros
  • Strong, I've slung up to 4oz.'s with no problems, medium action and sensitive, light weight.
Cons
  • None yet, going on two years

I bought this for throwing heavier lures and bait from the surf. For a 10' rod it is very light. The action is decent but I thought it would have been a little more moderate. I dont love the 50/50 split and the guides are old school. I already had my braid wrap around one of my guides.

This is has stood the test of time but if I had to do it again, I would probably take a closer look at some of the newer offerings available in that price range.
Pros
  • Very light weight for size and what it can throw.
Cons
  • Dont love the 50/50 split.
  • Old guides

Very nice rod

My Lamiglas XS11MS is my favorite jetty and surf rod for heavier applications, it's paired with a Penn 706z and this combo has brought in a lot of giant fish!
Pros
  • Very strong.
Cons
  • none to date

What type of guides does the 9 foot have? Would a 5500 Penn Slammer3 match well with the 9 footer?

The Lamiglas XS 9 MHS Graphite Surf & Jetty Spinning Rod has Fuji stainless steel alconite guides. I would advise using the Penn Slammer 5500 on a 10 ft Lamglas for better balance.

The ZeeBaas ZX22RB Z-Rough Reel Full Bail 2.25 Spool would be a good fit when available from manufacturer.
