Scares me a little
January 23, 2022
I have the 11ft model paired with an Akios Fireloop. I can cast a 3oz sinker a mile. Only thing is it feels a little weak haven't caught anything big yet to test it, but I am a little nervous. let you know when I get the big one.

10' MS Insane Surf
January 26, 2021
I have the 10ft model paired with a penn spinfisher long cast 6500. This was my first setup for the surf and I've been pleased with the results. Definitely looking to upgrade soon but this has been a nice intro rod at a good price

Good all rounder
October 17, 2020
Good quality rod especially for the price. Bought this only a few months ago in the beginning of summer. I’m from the east coast and have caught stripers and flounders so far with it. Used it all summer and into fall and it’s holding up just fine. Even caught a large dogfish and held up great!

crappy reel seat nut/threads

Reel Seat nut strips easily. Shallow threads do not provide enough bite and hold.

Great and affordable rod

I got 11 footer 2-6 lbs and used it mainly for crabbing and no problem encountered. Very strong rod and affordable lamiglas rod. I will rate this as 5 star.

1/10

Absolutely disappointed. Ive owned this surf rod for less than a month and already had the largest eyelet become unattached while it wasn’t in use. I bought this expecting quality. It’s anything but. 1/10 would not recommend

Good rod and excellent service
March 23, 2019
I currently own the 10’ version of the Insane Surf roughly over 2 years now. I don’t have many complaints about it. It’s does everything pretty well, but doesn’t wow you over any aspect of it. For the price it’s a good rod and you could spend a little more a better rod. Lamiglas has one of the best service ever. I broke my rod ( user error) and they will give me a new rod for $50 you really can’t beat that.

Nice Rod for the $$$
November 11, 2018
I have the 9ft model paired with a penn spinfisher VI 4500bls and 20lb braid. The rod fishes well. It casts very well with salt pro's, bombers, redfins, bucktails to 1.5 oz and soft plastics. Pushed the rod to it's limits with a pencil popper that weighed about 2.5 oz but it handles well with tins and diamond jigs to 3.oz. So far I have had a lot of fun with schoolie stripedbass from 18" - 26" on soft plastics and bucktails during a sandeel run off FINS. My only issue and criticism is the ferret always seems a little loose and I find myself constantly checking it to make sure that it is on well and not twisting too much when I cast. The rod could use 1 or 2 more guides in my opinion but the 4 guide - 1 tip is still a good set up, but with larger fish I do worry that there could be a flat spot in the bend which could become an issue. Still a great rod I'd say 4.5 stars but they won't let you give the extra half star.
Pros
  • Great price. Casts well. Fishes well.
Cons
  • Possible flat spot in the guide layout and a the ferret connection could be more secure. Still a very good rod for the price.

Ok rod, spend a little extra for better.

I own 2 of these and in my opinion they struggle to keep up with other rods priced roughly the same.

Dont buy Lamiglas..won't stand behind their product in case of failure
September 7, 2017
Bought surf rod..was good to me and good until it snapped unexpectedly..got in touch with Lamiglas and getting run around:" oh this one was an import rod, hence no warranty after 1 year"..well first of all did not state that anywhere nor did the price reflect a throw away rod..build a proper product that your brand/reputation can stand behind or not..don't come up with excuses when they fail but help your customer..and yes the communications with service department were painful..seems they never got my point(or did not want to and played dumb..quite successfully may i say)..never again Lamiglas..
Merchant Response:They post a 1 year warranty right on the rod when you buy it?
Pros
  • Good rod while it lasted
Cons
  • Horrible if/when it goes wrong

Great rod but snaps very quick
July 18, 2017
First of all they sent me a rod that have cracks already and returned to exchange it for a new one. After having this rod for three weeks and three trips of fishing and catching a few, the rod finally snaps on the tip of the backbone while casting. I dont even know if its a defect or the way they handle the rod at tackledirect. Ive been using lamiglas for a long time now and i had a surf rod that lasted for 4 years til it snapped that's why i decided to buy a new surf rod. But this is what i got. Money wasted!

I have the lis10mhc and I was wondering what is a good casting reel to get best performance for the rod
1 Answer
These would be spinning rods that would pair well with a surf spinning reel like the Shimano Ultegra xtd. If you were looking for a surf casting reel I would suggest the Avet SX G2 5.3 MC but not with this rod

Which rod would match well with the Van Staal 250 XS?
1 Answer
Hi Steve, Depending on your fishing application I would recommend either a ODM Frontier X Surf Spinning Rod. Model: NXFX-1064; TackleDirect Code: ODM-0008. https://www.tackledirect.com/odm-rods-nxfx-1064-frontier-x-surf-rod-10-ft-6-in.html. Or a St. Croix Legend Surf Spinning Rod Model: GSS106MM2; TackleDirect Code: SCR-1913. https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-gss106mm2-legend-surf-spinning-rod.html. Both of these would pair well with your Van Staal 250. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

how stiff is rod at the tip. will a 5oz and bunker chunk bend the hell out of it or not? I know its rated too 8 but don't want a lose backbone...thanks
1 Answer
These are moderate action/fast tip rods. They will handle 5oz weight and bait. The action means it will bend further down the blank, but you will have plenty of backbone to fight the fish.
