Terrible rod. Broke two
July 14, 2021
Very disappointed with this purchase. Rod cannot handle any type of fishing if there is any type of bottom. Snapped two rods in 3 trips. Very poorly engineered. Should definitely come with a warning label.

FOREGRIP IS TO SHORT, I HAVE SMALL HANDS AND STILL CANNOT GRAB A HANDFUL OF CORK ON THIS THIS ROD.>>>>VERY IRRITATING
GRIPE # 2, THE STRIPPER GUIDE (FIRST GUIDE) IS WAY TINY FOR THIS TYPE/CLASS OF ROD. DOESN?€™T CAST WORTH BEANS AS A RESULT. REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS, SUPERB LAMIGLASS BUILD QUALITY AND QUALITY COMPONENT SET AT THIS PRICE POINT. HOWEVER, THE DESIGN, MORE THE CHOICE OF COMPONENTS LEAVES YOU WONDERING IF THEY ACTUALLY FISHED THIS ROD (TESTED) BEFORE BRINGING IT TO MARKET. COULD NOT BE MORE DISAPPOINTED. OH WELL, GOING BACK.
Pros
  • GREAT BLANK, NICE ACTION
Cons
  • POOR CHOICE OF **TYPE** OF COMPONENTS. DESIGN ISSUES. NO CRITICAL THOUGHT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN APPLIED ON THE DESIGN ASPECT. SEEMS TO BE RUSHED TO MARKET. COULD HAVE EASILY BEEN A HOME RUN. I HAVE BEEN FISHING FOR 45 YEARS.

Quality, affordable product

I needed a heavy action rod for topwaters. Lamiglas makes a quality rod that doesn’t break the bank at < $100. I am satisfied.

Would this rod be a good option for deep water cod fishing with heavy sinkers on charter boats or do you think the 7'6" is too long?
1 Answer
The 7'6" rod would be fine and is stout enough for heavy weights.
