Jigging World Night Ranger Rods are inshore rods. They are made with nano carbon technology. This technology is integrated nano carbon resin in a thin wall carbon blank making them light with great power. All rods in this series have a fast action with great stopping power. They have a soft tip for the ideal sensitivity throughout the entire rod. The main target species for these rods is fluke, blackfish, striped bass, black sea bass, bluefish, porgy, and red drum as well as others.

Nicely packaged, unfortunately have not used this yet. Seems very light in the tip, not extremely rigid feeling. I’m sure it’s a great rod though, initial thoughts are that it seems kinda chincy or simply made. Not A very rugged feeling rod. I realize these are allegedly made of a lighter more durable material and the components are of a supposed better quality, however holding it, that idea doesn’t really transfer over to how it feels in your hands. Hopefully, it will be good when used.

Thought it would be helpful to know that the guides are intentionally offset to help manage line when jigging - it's not totally clear from the photos / description. It's a beautifully built rod, and incredibly light - something your shoulder is going to appreciate if you spend the day jigging from a kayak like me.

This is the finest rod i have ever used. I own a conventional and spinning version of the night ranger and i would consider them custom built. Extremely light and the Finest components used and the cork has held up well of 2 years of heavy use. The conventional version is the perfect bottom fishing rod for the north east.

I have the 7' H and use it for bucktailing fluke. Good for up to 6 oz but 8oz puts it at its limit IMO. So I am planning on getting the 7'6" H which is good forv6 to 12 oz. But I have heard (and read) reviews that say it's light in the tip. Is that true? Is there a similar rod that has a more rigid tip? BTW I used to use the St Croix Legend Tournament for this purpose but the salt water has gotten to it. Thx.

Hi Jim, The Jigging World Night Ranger Rods are made using a carbon blank with a nano carbon resin that allows a sensitive soft tip but strong rod. This however can feel more flexible than certain rods. Based on your fishing application I would recommend a St. Croix MJM72XHF Mojo Musky Rod. https://www.tackledirect.com/st-croix-mjm72xhf-mojo-musky-rod.html This rod has a lure weight rating of 3-8oz, with a Fast action allowing to jig heavier bucktails easier. Hi Arthur, The 3 Jigging World rods although similar are all designed for different purposes. The Jigging World Nexus is a light inshore, Fast action rod that is intended to be used for many different inshore saltwater fishing applications while having a affordable price. Very similar the Jigging World Night Ranger rod is the lightest and strongest blank offered by Jigging World. Compared to the Nexus this is a much lighter, stronger, more sensitive, and more durable rod with high end fuji compenents and reel seat compared to the Nexus Series. The Jigging World Black Demon was designed specifically for fishing deep water for blackfish, seabass, cod and other bottom fish species where you need a heavy sinker weight to fish the bottom. While also using High end components, the Black Demon is a more stout, and heavier rod compared to both the Nexus and Nightranger series. The rod isn't too "heavy", in fact, it would be great for your inshore application. The issue is the it is a Spiral wrap rod, so not designed for casting. Hope this helps.

I would recommend a 7' Medium Heavy Casting or Spinning rod. Jigging World JW-NR701S-MH Night Ranger Spinning Rod. Another great option as well is the Shimano Teramar XX Northeast Casting Rods or the Shimano Teramar XX Northeast Spinning Rods .
