Best Bang for your Buck$$
July 28, 2022
Don't hesitate to pull the trigger on these Nexus rods, especially this 4-10oz model...it's a beast. My wife can drag 12oz over the shoals and wrecks on one side of the boat, while I jig 4oz magic tails with the current. This guy is sensitive enough to let you feel what's going on 50' down and enough power to get em' in the boat. I have several MUCH more expensive rods and after running this one on a few trips, I am starting to wonder why as this Nexus performs as well as, if not better than others 2-3x more expensive.
Pros
  • excellent price
  • great balance between feel and power

Sensitive and a lot of backbone

Great rod for bottom fishing. Can feel everything from your weight dragging/bumping into structure, to feeling light taps from tog or flounder. Also solid backbone for pulling those fish out of structure.

Backbay flounder rod

I got this rod for jigging bucktails in the back bay and it is perfect for it. Caught a 20 inch a 19 inch and a few 16 inches. I use 3/4oz to 1.5 oz bucktails and work great for it

Awesome rod for the price

I have the 7’6H paired with an Avet Sx raptor and I use it for bull reds in the surf and bays, I’ve hooked and landed black tip sharks up to 4ft and had no doubt the rod could handle a fish of that size from shore. It’s sensitive enough to feel whiting but enough backbone to haul in sharks and redfish over 40”. Definitely recommended

Perfect rod for victualing fluke/flounder.
March 31, 2022
I have the 7’ medium/heavy conventional, and it’s the perfect ocean rod for fluke/flounder. I have it paired with a avet sxj g2 spooled with 20lb berkley x9. Best action for bucktailing. I usually use 3 to 4 ounce bucktail out front with it, but the rod can handle up to eight plus if the current gets bad or you switch to dragging bait.
Pros
  • Light weight
  • Great action
  • Tons of back bone
  • Good price point
Cons
  • None

Great Rods for Tog and Sea Bass
December 3, 2021
I bought the 701C-MH and paired it with an older model Avet SX 5.3. It was very sensitive when fishing tog jigs or weights up to 4 oz. Even with that sensitivity it still has plenty of backbone on that initial lift to keep the fish from running into the rocks.

I also bought the 701C-XH and paired it with a Daiwa Saltist 20H for deeper fishing. Again it was plenty sensitive but when the wind and current started ripping it still had no problem handling 16 oz of weight and setting double-headers.

These were also my first spiral wrapped rods and I was a little hesitant but after a few trips I'm convinced.

Lightweight, great performance, and a price tag that doesn't make my eyes water. I've already recommended this line to multiple friends.
Pros
  • Lightweight, sensitive, serious backbone.

Great for Togging!
November 7, 2021
I just took my medium-heavy for a trip to Rhode Island for some blackfish. It was great! At first the weight of it threw me off. The rod is so light and nimble that you wouldn't think that it could handle this kind of fishing, but it was great! The current was ripping in sixty feet of water. At first we used 5 ounces of lead but eventually topped out with 10 ounces, even with using braided line. The Nexus didn't seem to mind. At one point, I scaled back to jigging with this rod. I used a 3 ounce jig which was perfect. I flipped it up current and let it touch down. This rod was so sensitive that I could feel every tick of bottom as my jig skipped over the rocks. I eventually moved up to a 5 ounce jig, and that was no probelm at all. Overall, this is a great rod and I can't wait to get the 7'6" heavy version and use it for deep water fluke jigging. Get this if it becomes available.
Pros
  • It's light, sensitive and strong.
Cons
  • None

Awesome jigging rod
October 11, 2021
This is my first jigging rod and it performed great. Used it for Tautog fishing in RI. Tog are especially tough to catch as their bite is small and light. I felt every nibble. This rod is very sensitive to that particular bite and also for bigger fish. Great all around rod!

I have two Jigging World Nexus rods paired with Quantum Accurist S3's. For me they are the perfect combo for Fluke, Sea bass, and even small striped bass. They have plenty of power to fish 8 ounce bucktails in deep water yet they are extremely light. I highly recommend these rods!

Very nice looking rod. I like the acid wrapped eye design on this rod. Paired it with my dad's old Ambassador reel and 20 lb braid for fluke.

Very light and powerful rod
January 8, 2021
This pole is very light for the strength it has and the price doesn’t hurt the wallet to much. No problem fishing all day with this. I have it paired with an Avet SX 5.3 MC. I only had one negative issue which was with the tip, when retrieving my line with no weight on the line the top shot knot gets stuck in the tip.
Pros
  • Very light weight,
  • Acid wrap guides
  • Good price
Cons
  • Minor tip issue, see review

Yes this rod has Spiral wrapped guides. And would make a great pairing with your Avet to go blackfishing!
