Perfect for NE groundfish
July 24, 2022
I picked this rod up for use on seabass, tog, and deepwater fluke south of Cape Cod, and haddock north of the cape. I finally got up to NH today and it was perfect for Haddock up there. 12oz felt like the sweet spot but 16 was manageable. Super sensitive but enough backbone for big pollock and cod.
I have it paired up with a fathom 10XN, for a light and powerful combo.
Pros
  • Sensitive
  • Good backbone
  • Easily handles 12oz weight
Cons
  • Lockdown nut in front of reel is right where i kept putting my hand when fighting bigger fish today

This rod is the absolute perfect rod for the type of fishing we do around the cape. You jig for seabass, fluke , and cod with it as well as target stripers and blues even up to schooling blue fin with it and it proforms great. It's so light and strong . Jig all day no problem

Very nice!

I was looking for a new bottom fishing combo to fish on NJ party boat. I reached out to tackle direct online chat, they recommended this rod to me. I paired it with Shimano Trinidad 14A (purchased together), which turned out to be a great setup. The rod and reel balanced very well. I have used this setup on a few trips so far for sea bass and ling, the results are very good. Looking forward to the fluke and blackfish season.
Pros
  • Well balanced. Sensitive tip.

Excellent Tog Rod!
April 26, 2022
This is my dedicated conventional tog rod. I have it paired with an Avet sx 5.3 G2 spooled with 30lb Berkley X9. Super sensitive with tons of backbone to lift big white chins! This rod would also be an excellent rod for striper, drum and deep dropping wrecks for porgy and sea bass.
Pros
  • Light, sensitive and powerful
Cons
  • None

Jigging World MH Black Demon

Awesome Rod … Teamed this up with Shimano Torium 16 and handled Blackfish beautifully up to 7#. I am trying to catch a double digit Blackfish and believe this would handle the job as it performed perfectly with average size fish.
Thank you

Perfect Inshore Tog/Striper Rod

Hard to find a better rod (7.5 MH) to do battle with Blackfish or Striped Bass in the Northeast. The spiral wrapped guides allow for a ton of control fighting the fish and the action is fantastic. Highly recommended!

I I'm looking to purchase the black demon rod but I am a lefty is that going to be a problem with the way that the guides are wrapped. I will be using it two fish anywhere from porgies and fluke all the way up to doing wreck fishing. I have been told that it is capable of handling a 16 ounce Sinker is that correct
1 Answer
It's rating is up to 12 oz and being a righty or a lefty will have no effect on how this rod performs with the acid wrap.

Will the M be enough power to live line bunker for striped bass ?
1 Answer
Hi Jim, The Jigging World Black Demon Conventional Rod model: BD7.5M; TackleDirect Code: JWD-0001 will be fine for live lining bunker. However, since this is currently sold out I would recommend the Jigging World Night Ranger Rod. Specifically model: JW-NR761C-H; TackleDirect Code: JWD-0031. https://www.tackledirect.com/jigging-world-jw-nr761c-h-night-ranger-casting-rod.html. This rod is very lightweight and sensititve for live lining and has plenty of backbone to bring in large stripers. Please let us know if theres anything else we can assist you with. Tight Lines.

What would be a good reel to pair with this for blackfish, sea bas and just general NE bottom fishing?
1 Answer
Christopher,

A good reel to pair with the Jigging World Black Demon rod BD7.5MH would be the Avet MXL G2 5.8 MC conventional reel,  This would be a good setup for NE deep water bottom fishing.  Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with.
